eHealthers are a creative, collaborative and diverse group of talented individuals. We bring our different perspectives and experience together to achieve our company's goal of making health insurance easier and more accessible for individuals, families and small businesses. We may be texting ideas to each other one minute, or gathering at a cube the next, constantly pushing ourselves to make eHealthInsurance and its services better, faster, easier.
Our business is about keeping people healthy and our work culture embraces the healthy lifestyle. From participating in Bike to Work Day every year to everyday pick-up basketball or volleyball, we make time to stay healthy and on top of our game. In our consumer blog, Get Smart, Get Covered, we even provide tips on healthy lifestyles with posts about recipes, prevention and treatments.
With a number of offices and remote team members across the country, we embrace our diverse workplace and celebrate various holidays and events across the year. Team members in our Mountain View office celebrate Diwali with a festive luncheon and fashion show. Our customer care center folks in Gold River celebrated in a different fashion with Ugly Christmas Sweater Day. And the company's numerous sports fans show their team colors on baseball season's opening day or during the heat of NFL playoffs. Families are a big part of culture, too, and the children of employees make regular appearances at the office for Bring Your Child to Work Day or Halloween trick-or-treating.
eHealth also fosters a culture of giving back to our community, focusing on community and charitable activities on a local level. Our offices participate in the Family Giving Tree's holiday and back-to-school drives that provide gifts and school supplies to children. Teams in each office participate in local benefits and events, including golf outings, running and walking events.
The nature of what we do - putting the entire health insurance shopping and enrollment experience online - helps remove paper from a formerly paper-laden, bureaucratic process. Additionally, through energy and water conservation and by reducing waste in each of its offices, eHealth achieved certification as a Green Business in 2008.
