Covered California was the first state to create their own health insurance market under the Affordable Care Act. Today, there are about 1.52 million enrolled in health insurance plans through Covered California. Fortunately, 1.2 million of those people were able to qualify for federal subsidies. Covered California works with 11 different health insurance companies to offer affordable options in the individual, family, and small business marketplaces. The plans available to you will depend on your pricing region.

eHealth is a private, online health insurance exchange where you can shop for individual, family, and small business health insurance plans. eHealth’s exchange is separate from the government-run exchanges like Covered California, but in many states eHealth has agreements to partner with the government-run exchange. In those states, if you want a qualified health plan under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that will allow you to get federal subsides, you can still shop those plans on eHealth. In addition to qualified health plans, eHealth has a wide range of health insurance plans and products that you might not find on your state’s health insurance exchange.
